Video Games.

Thursday, May 29th, 2008

When Cale and I were dating, I thought that video games would be the end of it all. I would be on my death bed and Cale would tell me to wait just a minute while he finished a level. Thank goodness things are not so bad anymore. He traded in his desktop computer for an Xbox 360. There’s something about console gaming that is less antisocial than sitting in front of a computer at all hours of the night (and how many husbands did I just offend… sorry!) And granted running over people in Grand Theft Auto may not be the most moral activity to partake in, I do enjoy watching and picking out the next victims.. And there may have been an evening where I joined my husband in some Halo.. (Though I was not alone and for the record, she was a lot better than me! more practiced maybe?) And there may have been another evening where my lovely cousin Jessica and I chit chatted over the headsets while our husbands shot at each other.

There are even video games that I enjoy.. Scene It for the 360, now that is one happenin’ night in the Corwin residence. Cale did make an attempt to get a game for me when he bought me Katamari. Though that only resulted in death grips on the controller and a frustrated Stephanie. Then there was Mario Kart. And Wii Sports. Okay so I do enjoy a video game or two.

But anyways the point of this blog is to point out that I did allot Cale an area of the blog to make blog husband gamer friends. See to the right and down a little bit. So husbands with 360, go be friends have fun. And if you are playing Halo with Cale and his character is shooting at the ground, that is me. Sorry. Did I mention that I wasn’t very good?

And wives, what about you? Has there finally been a balance struck between game time and husband time? I know I cannot be the only person who had the slightest urge to hide the computer mouse. And if you have read this blog and are saying to yourself, “Gee my husband doesn’t play any games besides Scrabble with me.” Liar. Err I mean good for you.

I feel like someone who has just been taken off bedrest. I spent a full four days sitting in front of the computer studying. Now I promise you will be spared my “oh poor me I have to study” nonsense for a few weeks. Hopefully I passed so I will be studying for the “big one” My last one! On my way home from the test, I stopped by our Sunol park to try and take my Exposaroonie picture. I got one that I liked, so now you all have some photographic enjoyment.

The Final Choice

My flowers I earned last week. I took this a couple of days ago when they were at their finest. $2.99 for a bunch of irises. This should work out well for me

This plaque and statue is right outside the park. How adorable. The bottom line is “Sunol Grandma’s Club” I thought it was too sweet.

I hope you all enjoy your evening, and don’t forget to vote for last week’s exposaroonie and to participate in this week’s challenge. I have a date with my Dyson, washing machine, and a bottle of wine sent from my lovely friend Christine! What a great surprise when three bottles of wine showed up at my doorstep before I left for my test this morning! Thank you darling, you are the best, and I cannot wait until you finish your master’s program and work across the street from me in San Jose! Then we really can have that barbecue.

Procrastination

Lisa tagged me, something that made my morning. After my study question software dumped all 15 chapters of my statistics, and in my attempt to retrieve them so I could do a diagnostic exam, I deleted the entire program, I desperately needed something to get my mind of things while I wait for Cale to bring me the software CD from my work. So thank you Lisa, you have no idea how glad I am.

  • Post these rules to your blog.
  • Tag 5 people at the end of your post by leaving their names.

My Joys:

  1. The thought of being finished with my cpa exam in five weeks, as long as I pass these next two. ugh.
  2. A clean house. Something I hope that I can make happen once I’m not destined for studying
  3. Good wine paired with good chocolate

My Fears:

  1. Failing this section tomorrow
  2. Never being ready to have kids
  3. One of the dogs getting out and getting run over (okay very irrational, but still a fear)

My Goals:

  1. Finishing all my simulations and study questions by a decent time tonight
  2. Getting my shade garden up and running within the next couple of weeks
  3. To get my booty in shape

My Current Obsessions/Collections:

  1. Candy (to get me through the studying. THAT is counterproductive to the goal above I know)
  2. Sex and the City on DVD. I’m at Season five, Volume one
  3. Babies. Money. I’m young. But babies. But we’re young and broke. But BABIES. Patience.

Random Surprising Facts About Me:

  1. My nails right now are shockingly chipped and unsightly. Very unlike me.
  2. My butt is highly sore from sitting on it for four days while studying. No joke. I’m ashamed.
  3. We own a leopard gecko. Guess she doesn’t make the blog too often. Or ever.

Study time

Friday, May 23rd, 2008

How do you get through watching a total of 32 hours of lectures about exciting things like governmental accounting, capital leases, and bond valuation and the even more hours of multiple choice practice questions?

A comfy study spot, lots of Jelly Bellies, and some Friends to keep you company

A witty hubby to break up the boring study time. You can let him steal some Jelly Bellies if you want.

A fluffy puppy to cuddle with you when you need a break.

And a big silly dog to remind you to relax every once and a while

I am now officially halfway through my CPA exams. I finally got my results back for my second test and I passed. Now I have FAR and Regulation left. If those sound exciting to you, you are a little crazy. Though I must say I am so glad I chose Roger Philipp as my review course. This guy is hilarious. Sometimes I catch myself giggling out loud at my cubicle. I swear I’m studying people! It makes watching the lectures go by much easier. I have a busy weekend ahead of me. But I took PTO on Tuesday, so I have four full days to get ready for my test on Wednesday. As long as I pass that I will be gearing up for my very last section on July 2nd. I cannot wait for that day! The pressure of studying will be off my shoulders and I can truly enjoy my days. Ah. I can taste it now. So excuse me as this should be my last post until after Wednesday. I say should because I tend to get distracted while studying, but I am going to try to keep my eye on the prize. See you on the flipside folks.

*cough*nerd.
