Girly Post Ahead

This blog got me thinking some serious thoughts for a Wednesday evening. Toe cleavage: yay or nay? I have my own opinions, but being out of the loop of the whole anti-toe cleavage movement had no clue that there were people who specifically bought shoes to avoid it.

So yes, I love toe cleavage. I think it’s sexy even.

If you flickr search “toe cleavage” you will find many many examples of bad toe cleavage. I am talking tasteful classy toe cleavage. And yes, there is even a wiki about toe cleavage. Apparently “Manolo Blahnik himself opined that ‘the secret of toe cleavage, a very important part of the sexuality of the shoe’ is that ‘you must only show the first two cracks.’ ” So there you go, the laws on toe cleavage from the god of shoes himself.

Your thoughts?

OH yeah, I am ALL about the toe cleavage! I also think it’s tre sexy! Dang, it’s been so hot and yucky (duh. it’s summer!) that I’m not even in the mood for shoes much, just flip flops, flip flops, flip flops! Crazy cuz I LOVE shoes. Guess I’m lucky I can wear flip flops to work.

Love the Wednesday evening insight…so deep down into our SOLES!! HAHA! I couldn’t resist that one! =) Anyways, I think toe cleavage, when done tastefully, can be an acceptable thing. However, like pretty much everything else, this too can be over-done. Truth be known, I didn’t know there even WAS such a thing as “toe cleavage” until last fall or so when a lovely friend of mine unknowingly enlightened me!! So there’s my thoughts!

toe cleavage is cute! flats give you the best toe cleavage. even though you hate flats. and since i don’t get cleavage in other areas…might as well flaunt the toes :)

I guess I don’t avoid it, but when I try on a pair of shoes and I see my “toe cleavage” poking out I do think to myself that it’s a little strange (not in a bad way, but I just don’t usually see it).

I’m new to the toe cleavage world simply because work boots don’t usually allow for it, but now that I work in corporate America, I’m all for it. Hey, if I can’t flaunt my boob goods, why not let the toes out for some g rated fun? :)

I’m a guy who thinks toe cleavage is about the sexiest thing a gal can do, especially toe cleavage in heeled pumps. I just don’t understand the desire for females to want to show off their toenails to everyone. Here’s a great blog I frequent on the topic: http://toe-cleavage.blogspot.com

    Hmmm.

I believe the word is: anyways

  8. Steph says:

Okay that was mean I apologize. I promise, any new readers I will not ridicule your comments. That one just seemed too much like spam.

  9. Morgan says:

    lol, ditto on the anyways.

I think a moderate & controlled amount of toe cleavage (the 2 crack rule is hilarious but true) is just fine. Being that my toes are some of the longest known to man, it’s really hard for me to avoid in most heels.

I love Caitlyn’s comment about the ‘other’ cleavage. hahaha

  10. Alyssa says:

Ummm..what…I don’t care as long as you doing have fatty feet. kthanks.

  11. Leslie says:

lol, i had never even heard of toe cleavage before – i am completely out of the loop. so…for my first experience, i am a little weirded out by it, even though i’ve never even thought about it or noticed it before! i have a feeling that now i will be looking for it everywhere.

  12. Trysha says:

Oooo, when toe cleavage is bad its BAD.
I never have toe cleavage…I guess my toes would be considered “flashers” in my flip flops.

  13. ashley says:

Geez, I’m so fashion-challenged. I’ve never even HEARD of this, let alone cared enough to pay attention!!

Maybe I will pay attention now…Hmm. Although, considering I wear Tevas and athletic shoes 80% of the time, it’s probably *not* an issue. You’ve enlightened me!

  14. Lauren says:

    Haaaaaa. These comments are hilarious.

  15. JimaieMarie says:

i don’t LOVE it but i don’t HATE it either…i guess i haven’t given it much thot! LOL!
oh man, the anyways comment. fun. e. stuff.

  16. Shannon says:

I’m with you- I think it can look sexy! If it’s too much though, it almost looks like the shoes are too big!

  17. I didn’t know Manolo coined the “only two cracks” rule….but that’s the first thing I thought after reading “Toe cleavage: yay or nay?”

so, Yay – for two cracks!

  18. I’m with you – tasteful toe cleavage is okay. You know, just a glimpse of it… Not the full meal deal!

  19. Talia says:

oh my goodness, this is too funny. First of all, I love that you wrote a blog about “toe cleavage”, of all things!! And second, how funny that you’ve gotten EIGHTEEN comments about it! I never knew it was such a hot topic. lol

While I have never given much thought to toe cleavage, I have to say the two cracks rule sounds good to me. I do know I don’t like putting on a pair of shoes and seeing all those cracks sticking out. It’s kinda ugly, I think.

Well. I’m so glad I came here and read this, because i know more about this issue now than I ever thought possible. :)

  20. Ok. This was a very important topic for me for a while. Back when pointy toe shoes came onto the fashion scene, I was ANTI any pointy toes b/c of the sheer fact that they showed toe cleavage. HOWEVER… It didn’t take long for me to realize that not only did I like the shoes… but I also liked the toe cleavage. So now, I am PRO-toe cleavage. ALL of my heals have it… and now my flats too. I like it so much I’m trying to design a Nike shoe I can wear to the gym with it. :-) But I do like to keep it to keep the toe cleavage to a modest amount.

Thanks for posting on this very important topic.
