Growing up I used to say that Fridays were my favorite day of the week. But now I think I would have to change that day to Sunday. Sundays are so lazy and cozy. They’re known for yummy breakfasts, and in our house, ending the evening refreshed in a clean house. Throughout the week as things build up on our home’s surfaces, my mind gets cluttered as well. But Sunday, as the mail gets filed, the laundry gets cleaned, and the carpets vacuumed, I feel renewed and ready for the week to come.
This morning I made myself a veggie egg breakfast burrito, but last weekend I made these yummy waffles. My Grandma Pat (Hi Grandma!) gave us this waffle maker years ago, but wow! It is idiot-proof, which is important to me in the kitchen. It tells you when the waffles are ready even! And even someone like me, whose cooking skills leave much to be desired, can make perfect looking waffles. The waffle above is made from the recipe on the Bisquick box, but I added in cinnamon and some chopped pecans. Topped with maple syrup, this was a delicious and filling breakfast.
So there is the warm… How about some fuzzy…

Um Mind if I wash my hands?
How was your Sunday?

That looks wonderful… the warm and the fuzzy! My Sunday was a whirlwind. Parents in town, hosted a bridal shower, cooking, cleaning, entertaining. Whew. I am glad to be at work just to have peace and quiet. Next weekend I am doing the warm and fuzzy 24/7.
Friday may still be my favorite day only because it leads to the calm that is Sunday. Especially when football season starts and it’s drizzly outside …there’s no chance we’re leaving. Cute kitty!
I love them too
Aww look at Neo, taking a bath! I had waffles for breakfast Sunday morning, too!
Oooh I love waffles! Those look so yummy! I love Sundays too- that’s usually the day we spend most of our time with our families!
And your kitty is sooo cute!
Oh how lovely that sounds! Sunday the day, we always have breakfast for lunch. Pancakes, sausage, bacon, fruit. That type of food, including your yummy looking waffles, just seem so relaxing and Sunday-y!
we have a waffle maker that tells us when the waffles are done too. I love it. Although, I haven’t used it in a long time, and seeing your delicious waffles make me hungry for some! Might have to bust it out soon.
ok, how cute is your kitty in the sink– that is hilarious.
I’m so glad you had a nice relaxing day to top off a very busy week. I’m sure you needed it!!
Yummmm those waffles look divine! So tasty! That’s cool the waffle maker even tells you when the waffles are ready! And your cat is soo adorable! I love that she’s in the sink! Sooo funny!
GREAT!!! no i want waffles… LOL..
I had a great sunday – went for a boat ride and chilled by the water all day…
Happy Monday – may the weekend be here soon!
So is this fabulous waffle iron easy to clean??? Because, yes, I’m shameful to say that THAT is the reason we ditched our last waffle iron…simply because we hated to clean it! But I would love to get a new one, especially after seeing your super delicious, perfectly round waffles!!! =)
Oh mannnnn….pecans and cinnamon. What a great idea! That waffle looks like a perfect image you’d find on google! Veggie omelette…mmmm. Sunday at your house sounds like quite a relaxing place to be! Love what you said about your mind getting cluttered as the house does…I can definitely relate to that.
I am really craving me some waffle now!!!
Jerusha, Oh wow that sounds so yummy!! Now I know where Talia gets her superb brunch cooking skills
Talia,
Yeah we didn’t use ours, but once we did, it was like well those were so easy! So we may make this a Sunday tradition. I think next time I want to get some fresh berries to put on top.
Susan,
Yes it’s so easy! The waffles just pop right out, so there is hardly anything to clean. I just put tin foil underneath to catch any drips. It comes with a pan, but tin foil just makes cleanup that much easier.
I know what you mean by a clean house, there is something about it when my house is clean my laundry is done and I can sit outside on the patio reading a book knowing that there isn’t anything else that I could be doing-its bliss. Oh, Sundays, why do you only come once a week?
Way to look the positive side of Sunday. I wrote a post about the cranky side of sunday-which is that Monday is right after it. Thanks for making me think of the good things about sunday
Look at your waffles!!! So delicious looking!!! =P
And your kitty! How adorable!!!
Aw, this made me happy! I can’t wait until I have “regular” weekends with my husband someday. We both work places where it’s virtually impossible for us to have weekends off. Instead, I’m off Thursday/Friday, which is okay…but it’s still not the same.
I want waffles on Sunday mornings! I do!
Heehee.
And your cat looks so incredibly soft. I want to use it for a pillow, kind of.
I had waffles on Sunday, but mine were toaster waffles. Yours look much tastier.
wow those waffles look so good! You gave me a craving for some..haha We don’t even have a waffle maker. I’m thinking we need to invest in one of those!
I love your kitty! that picture is fantastic.
oh my yum.
that waffle looks SINFULLY delish!!
