Pale Ale and Ritz Chips

April 27th, 2009

It’s just another Monday night. Cale is out at his LSAT review course in Berkeley until eleven tonight, and I am living it up. I’ve got a “chick’n” patty in the oven, a Mighty Arrow Pale Ale on my desk, and a bag of Ritz Chips with my name on it. Of course Friends in on the TV. It’s so nice to be home early enough to catch the Friends reruns on TV. For a Monday, it’s been fairly delightful. It’s nice and windy outside, which is the perfect time for cuddling under a blanket and reflecting.

My life has been pretty crazy as of late, but this weekend I had plenty of time to relax. This was done by re-watching multiple episodes of Weeds, watching French Kiss, and hanging out with the hubby. This is my favorite way to spend a weekend. In a state of hibernation during the majority of it, so that Sunday night you say No! Where did it all go?, but that next Monday morning is when I feel the most refreshed.

But to assure myself that the weekend did not go completely to waste, there were a few triumphs:

I ordered some spice racks from The Container Store. You would have thought there was gold inside that UPS package by the way I ripped it open with glee. I’m so glad to finally be able to utilize our ironing board cabinet for storage. In our tiny little house, no space can go to waste.

I trimmed my own bangs, and oh thank goodness they turned out well. Skydiving? No thanks I trimmed my bangs this weekend. I’ve had my adrenaline high for the year. By the way, if you’re looking at this picture thinking that I totally messed them up, it’s the end of the day, they’re not uneven, just tired.

We went to the grocery store. Which you can always tell because I come home with flowers of some form. It’s my way of rewarding myself for going. Because if I could, I think I could live off of macaroni and cheese for a year if it meant I could avoid going to the store.

That was pretty much my weekend. You can throw some intermittent “I’m so excited for Vegas!” exclamations here and there, and you get the picture. Today Southwest airlines made me very very happy by putting all flights to and from the Bay Area on sale for 50% off. Not only did I book my flight to Vegas for June, but Cale and I decided to utilize the discount as well by moving our anniversary trip up a few weeks. Now I will be heading to Vegas for two weekends in a row. The first to celebrate with my husband by seeing The Beatles Cirque show “Love” and enjoying ourselves. The second weekend to meet up with some lovely bloggers. Look at me! The jet-setter. This is a big deal for me because normally on airplanes you would see me holding back tears during take-off. The flights I’ve taken for national trainings through my work have really broken me in though. I’m almost a pro!

Well I’m off to finish watching Friends and to try to psych myself for a little Jillian Michaels paired with yoga. Have you been shredding? I have a few times and even made it to the gym for a run! Got some motivation to share?

i always come home from the grocery store with flowers, and most of the time they are yellow. and with all you hair-cutters coming to vegas, maybe one of you can give me a haircut. i don’t want to pay $50 for a trim :( stupid new york prices.

I live for weekends like that! :)

Purdy flowers! I love the idea of getting flowers at the grocery store. There can never be too many bouquets of fresh flowers.

Glad you had such a nice, relaxing time!

  7. I never tire of Weeds. It’s easily one of the best shows ever made. Also, Vegas two weekends in a row sounds so lovely I can hardly stand it. (And I mean that! I love Vegas!)

Are your spices on that bottom shelf numbered?

  9. Steph says:

    Elizabeth,

Haha! I was wondering if anyone was going to notice that.. They were part of a bridal shower game where people had to guess the spice. Of course, I forgot to write what they were after the game, so it always takes me a minute to figure out what it is first.
