When you visit Yosemite, you see all these signs cautioning about bears, so you would think visiting for a weekend you would get to see some wildlife.
So I would like you to meet the very scary bears of Yosemite:
So no, over the weekend of July 18th that we spent in Yosemite, we saw less wildlife than we see at our house. But that’s okay because we did get to go on some adventures, like renting bikes and rafting down the river…
Seeing some cool waterfalls…
Cale, Brent, Cait, and my dad climbed up through the rocks to get to the falls. My mom and I hung back and were chatting it up with some locals. Because we’re cool like that.
Posing at viewpoints because that’s required when you’re a tourist…
And taking more pictures…
It was a great weekend, and I loved not only hanging out with my family, but getting to see Yosemite. Cale treated us all to some great cooking, and we had fun getting use out of the cabin my mom rented for the weekend: its hot tub on the deck, .5 billion DVDs, and pool table.
Have you ever visited Yosemite? And most importantly, did you see any bears???

So beautiful!!! Golly, now I want to go to Yosemite.
looks like you all had a wonderful time. Thanks for sharing the pictures, they’re perfect
oh, and I know all about bear disappointment. When we went to Alaska years ago every single local told us how many bears we would see… well, we saw one. And it was stuffed. In a museum. BOO.
I am so not an outdoorsy person, but I think I could dig the cabin and hot tub.
Looks like a fabulous trip!
all i know is…speeding kills bears!
Our pastor was just there a few weeks ago and saw one. He had a pretty hilarious story about it, but I would suck at retelling it.
Looks like you guys had a blast! A cabin with a hot tub and dvds, sounds good to me. Sorry you didn’t get to see a bear but Yosemite is gorgeous. I haven’t been but really want to go and should since it is so close to us.
i love yosemite, but i also hate it because it is SO crowded. i’ve never seen any bears there either, but when i lived in mammoth a black bear broke into my apartment through a window i left open and ate a batch of freshly baked cookies. and everything else in my fridge that had any fat in it. and i walked in while he was still in there, and i shrieked, and he jumped back out the window and ran off. my heart didn’t stop pounding for hours and hours.
Can I just say how beautiful your freckles are? I love freckles… I wish I had some…
Sohobutterfly,
Those are my sister’s! aren’t they insane! I didn’t inherit that, just random dark freckles on my arms. I would be the reflection in her sunglasses in the picture I think you’re looking at.
I’ll be sure to tell my sister to read your comment if she hasn’t already.
What a fantastic trip!! It always seems insane to me that we live an hour from that place and I’ve gone what? 4 times that I can remember?! FOR SHAME!!!!!
I neeeeed to take my boys up there. for reals.
I love your pictures and all your captions made me giggle!!
I haven’t been to Yosemite, but my husband and I did have a bear poking around our campsite in Seqouia. Not fun! Next time I think we’ll go to Yosemite and see some squirrels instead.
It looks beautiful there!
