Things I fell in love with over the weekend

I’m aware it is Friday, and I’m just now writing about my weekend. But after three weeks of no blogs, you didn’t expect anything else did you?

Over the years I’ve come to find that it is entirely too easy to make my day. Really. No joke. It’s hard to believe sometimes because I have the tendency to easily get discouraged about things, especially in the rush of day to day. The second I start to think about how rare it is that I have time to myself, the complete failure I’ve been about exercising, and all the little things I’d love to get done but just do not have enough time in the day, it’s hard for me to see the bright side of anything. But every once and a while something will come along that will make me smile no matter what is going on. I could be vacuuming and get a whiff of a fall candle. Bam! Smile.

This weekend filled me up with so many wonderful little moments. Really it was just so refreshing. This is pretty rare when we make the four hour trek down to Bakersfield. Usually with all the driving, and the inevitable lack of sleep that comes with a changing sleep schedule and not being in our own bed, I’m so ready to be driving right back up to our house. This weekend was different. Maybe it’s because I started Saturday with a mimosa. I mean that has to make everything perfect right?

There were just plenty of little reminders that practically screamed at me Stephanie this is what life is all about. The weather was perfect. Even in Bakersfield. It was the welcoming of fall. I bought my first scarf of the season, which I immediately put on because I have waited far too long for fall to get here; I had to get a jump start. We also made our way into Bath and Body Works. How is it that they manage to put together the most perfect fall and winter smelling candles and fragrance oils? Now it’s so nice to walk into our house and just smell and feel the warmth of fall.

Not only that, but we got so much wonderful family time, with the celebration of my sister’s 21st birthday and the sake bombs that resulted, and the quality time spent with the little baby brother and sister (no sake bombs there). I don’t think I could love the time we spent this weekend any more. My uterus is most certainly screaming at me because baby laughs and giggles are just irresistible. I do love how much we’re still able to be active participants in our families’ lives even if we’re not living nearby.

Pardon me while I take a moment to soak in all this goodness.

hahaha! I totally read that sentence as “and the sake bombs that resulted IN the quality time spent with…”
I was so confused for a sec ;)
I go into Bath & Body Works often on my breaks at work and just SNIFF everything lol! The people that make those scent combinations are gods!! I wish I could afford to buy every candle/wall flower/body wash I love in there! yum.
Fall, you are wonderful. Just keep your germs away from my kids mmkay?

Jimaie, haha! speaking of germs I got a big bottle of hand sanitizer for my desk too! Sometimes I put it on just because it smells so yummy!

They’re tricky there because they always have SOME sale going on. I ended up with 2 for $20 candles and then a free set of wallflower refills too.. when I didn’t even plan on buying anything!

  3. That picture is so gorgeous, I want to jump into it! (does that sound kinda weird? probably a bit). I love fall.

I love how one of the first “fall” things involves hitting bath & body works- having their scents totally makes my season too!

I wanted to take pictures of my city in the fall and do a “this is it!” video blog but it snowed tons yesterday and the trees still haven’t even changed colour! I think I’ve been foiled.

That sounds like an amazing weekend!

Seriously, I’ve been forcing myself to stay out of Bath and Body Works so I wont spend money… but I think I just may need to make a trip over there for some Fall-scented goodness :)

I love fall–but we don’t get one, or at least not really! I’m easily pleased too–if Adley or Radish do something cute, my day is made!

Lovely. I’m going to NY in a few weeks to get a real taste of fall, but maybe I should’ve scheduled a trip to Bakersfield instead. :)

I agree about candles! The smell of Fall & Winter helps me get in the mood since there aren’t fall changing leaves or snow in Arizona. I’ve got wallflower plugins all over the house and it smells really good! :)
