Dear Pottery Barn,
I really love you. Really. You are the one catalog I cannot bear to cancel because whenever I see you in the mail, my mind does an adorable little heel kick out of excitement. I settle onto the couch and get ready for a case of the wants. Some hardcore wants.
Like when I saw these adorable jewelry frames adorning your pages. Really what more could a girl desire? Well, maybe to use that $50 a pop on something more productive. Like shoes.

So I did what all my fabulously crafty friends would do: I decided to make my own!
I headed over to Big Lots and purchased some incredibly cheap 8 x 10 wooden frames. The next stop was Walmart for some metallic spray paint. Then rummaged through my storage closet for a little picture hanging kit I’d purchased from Target a while back. Armed with a TV remote programmed to Bridget Jones (because chick flicks are also part of the supply list of any DIY project), I got busy.
It’s always a sign of a project well done when your husband tells you how nice it looks! So in between late work nights and busy weekends, even I was able to squeeze in a little time for me. Now I just need to find time to give myself a much needed manicure and pedicure. Yikes!

I’ve been thinking lately about making something for my jewleries too but haven’t decided yet. I love yours!!
LOVE. I currently have jewelry strewn all over my dresser and need to do something with it. I am so trying this!!
AHH! I love love looooooove what you did here! I’m totally copying.
Snaps for the crafty skills my friend. Mad snaps.
Oh wow, that’s so creative! I would never have the patience to do something like that!
I LOVE IT! I want to do it now!
Oh wow, I love this idea so much! It’s so much better that sticking thumb tacks in your closet walls & draping your necklaces on that (which is what I’m currently doing).
I need to do this. Looks awesome, Steph!
Wow, that looks SO GOOD! I want to do it, too! Also, you have lots of pretty jewelry! Where do you find it?
Now, on a related note: the Pottery Barn Catalog. I have no idea how they did this, but when I moved into my current apartment, they FOUND ME. Within 2 weeks. And sent me a catalog. I swear, it’s like they knew. I distinctly remember it because my boyfriend at the time was laying on my floor, setting up my wireless connection and I was going through my mail and there it was: The Catalog. And I was like, “OMG, it’s like they KNEW. The mothership is calling me home.” How do they do that??
ADORABLE! Also, I feel your pain. It’s one of very few catalogs I can’t bear to cancel. J. Crew is another.
Dude, I am TOTALLY making this now! Thanks for this post! I feel so inspired to make my jumbled mess of earrings better!
What a cute idea! I am so glad you made it and didn’t buy it for that much moola
YAY for you!!!
Love them! I’ve been thinking of making these on my own lately too, I’ve seen ones with fine mesh in them so you can hang everything wherever you like….
I love Spring projects!
I love this idea. I never know how to store my jewelry, but I never thought to do it as art.
Bakersfield girls, represent! I’m so glad you found my blog! Us Central Valley transplants need to stick together, especially up here in NorCal. Let’s totally be long-lost twins, except, umm, now I’m 27, boo
I love this, you did such a great job and it really does look like art.
awesome job!
LOVELOVELOVE this. I want to make one for my necklaces now!
I have actually have made these before for my shop and they sold like crazy. I used nylon mesh screen and hot glued it into the frame – you could also use little tacks or nails. It was less than $20 for the supplies. It could be less if you used an old frame. I spray painted mine gloss white. I really love the use of wire and cups hooks shown here – The mesh was not easy with leverback earrings and would not hold necklaces. Going to have to try this!
Wow, you did a great job re-creating that! You should totally mass produce those and sell them for less than Pottery Barn. You’d make a killing.
oooh, I LOVE these. what a super great idea. I applaud you, my dear: there’s nothing better than seeing something you love and MAKING it for way less money. Such a thrill.
I’m going to reorganize our (horrifying) closet soon, and I may just have to steal this idea… along with everyone else you’ve inspired!
SO COOL! Your soo crafty!
i had ripped this same page out of the catalog, i love it! The only problem is I have soooooooo many necklaces, I would need like 8 frames?? I seriously love how yours turned out tho, I love seeing when people take an idea and make it their own!
Oh my gosh yay, good for you! Those look so good!
How lovely!! They look wonderful! I love finding things and then trying to DIY them. And succeeding, haha
Look at you getting all crafty w/ your super cute bathroom & now your jewelry! I love it! This project turned out so great! It’s so awesome that all your stuff is now organized — and your jewelry has been turned into a unique work of art! Your dangle-y (is dangly not a word? Boo. It should be! So there!) earrings are so cute! Me likey!
Next blog, TABLES and new chair! Your house is taking over your blog
That looks absolutely fabulous! I am going to have to make some!
