My hair through the years. All I can say is: Enjoy…

I’m getting my hair cut this Wednesday. It’s been a while. Okay, maybe it’s been since Christmastime. And I know when I go into the salon, I’m going to be frowned upon due to my ridiculous split ends. But that’s alright. My hair has seen worse. I’m just ready for a bit of a change. I’m not quite sure what I’ll end up with. I never like to go into the salon with a set hairstyle because I figure I’m paying good money for someone else to worry about that stuff. But, I wouldn’t mind getting a cut similar to a certain adorable Lauren Conrad. I’m keeping my dark brown hair though because highlights + me = crazy mad split ends.

Since I’m heading into the salon, I figured it’s the perfect time to travel through the “History of Steph’s Hair.” Buckle up y’all. It’s a bumpy ride.

Now, I know I’m not the only one with a few hair misfortunes.. Tell me all about your worst hairstyles. Oh and any suggestions for my hair appointment on Wednesday are more than welcome.

See I can do it all on my own!

Dear Pottery Barn,

I really love you. Really. You are the one catalog I cannot bear to cancel because whenever I see you in the mail, my mind does an adorable little heel kick out of excitement. I settle onto the couch and get ready for a case of the wants. Some hardcore wants.

Like when I saw these adorable jewelry frames adorning your pages. Really what more could a girl desire? Well, maybe to use that $50 a pop on something more productive. Like shoes.

So I did what all my fabulously crafty friends would do: I decided to make my own!

I headed over to Big Lots and purchased some incredibly cheap 8 x 10 wooden frames. The next stop was Walmart for some metallic spray paint. Then rummaged through my storage closet for a little picture hanging kit I’d purchased from Target a while back. Armed with a TV remote programmed to Bridget Jones (because chick flicks are also part of the supply list of any DIY project), I got busy.

Supplies are ready!

Assembling the earring holders

And getting the necklace hooks in place before a thorough coating of spray paint

A finished project and a nice, useful display for in our closet

A close-up of some dangly earrings

It’s always a sign of a project well done when your husband tells you how nice it looks! So in between late work nights and busy weekends, even I was able to squeeze in a little time for me. Now I just need to find time to give myself a much needed manicure and pedicure. Yikes!

joie de vivre

I have some pretty exciting news! After suffering from somewhat of an online identity crisis, what with my Grace in Small Things blog, my daily photos (which I have been taking but not uploading out of pure laziness), my desire to just have my own short blogs that just don’t really have a place on this blog, I decided to start something new. Something that I hope will fulfill my need for a low maintenance, joyful, girlie outlet. One where I don’t need to sit and think about words, but just be.

I was really relieved when Jamie at Oh How Lovely and Kylaroma shared their new tumblrs. Tumblr! Duh! How did I not think of that? It would be a perfect solution to my new online problem. I can quickly jot down and share things that I love, and won’t face the overwhelming aspect of sitting down to compose a blog entry that is both coherent and interesting. This may be my savior to surviving tax busy season. Because let’s face it, when you’re getting home after nine every night, the last thing I want to do is write a blog.

Of course I will still be at Those Corwins. It’s my home, my online oasis. And when I have the time, I can’t wait to share all our adventures we have as husband and wife. But now I have a separate platform for things that don’t really belong here: like links to awesome photographs, etsy items, or motivating quotes. I would hate to lose readers who really could care less about getting multiple entries a day about things I just think are cool. Some may, but I do realize that others might not.

Now in my effort to fill my life with joy and happiness, I am debuting my new solely-Steph blog:

http://stephcorwin.com: my own domain for my own personal whims. You are welcome to go and subscribe if you’d like to follow me there as well.

I hope you all are having a wonderful weekend. I’ll probably catch up this week with another real update on what’s been on my mind lately. It has to do with the bathroom. And maybe these too.

Baaaaaangs

Finally after blogging about them in December, I am the proud owner of some new bangs.

I LOVE THEM! Happy Saturday peoples!
