When I have nothing to blog about, I blog about the dogs

subtitle: I spend more on the dogs than my husband
sub-subtitle: the post that Morgan will skip over because it talks about pets

I adore etsy to no end. I love the idea of supporting individuals instead of companies, and most often, the items on there are so adorable. Really it’s impossible not to find something you love and that’s exactly what you are looking for.

The other weekend I was looking for some replacement dog tags since Maisie had managed to lose hers. And I found these adorable tags from Urban Puppy. I fell in love, but knew we had a problem: Brodie is a boy. And no boy of mine was going to be walking around with a heart on his tag. He’s a man’s man. So I messaged the seller asking if she could do a more “boyish” tag for Brodie. And she did. And they are awesome:

A picture of Maisie. Just because LOOK HOW CUTE!

And Brodie too!

This is only a small portion of the insane shopping I’ve been doing lately to cope with my angst over busy season. I’m thinking it’s time for some form of intervention, otherwise I might as well buy my own franchise of Pier 1, Bath and Body Works, and maybe even a Fry’s while I’m at it. But if anyone needs some Nectarine Mint hand soap, I think I have about three in our guest bathroom. Don’t judge. They smell like heaven.

I finally scored some good deals!

Monday, August 17th, 2009

It always seems like I have the absolute worst luck when it comes to finding good sales. I rarely get something I can brag about.

Well last week was MY WEEK!

I got my order of super cute adorable Tulle clothes. Cale even got a couple items.

$8.99 for that dress people. And it has pockets!

Then a quick trip to Target to pick up I Love You Man resulted in an adorable new doormat on sale for $13, and three new pairs of shoes.

That pair on the right? $4! And they are my new favorites. So comfy

Really my luck had to be over. There was nothing else in the world left for me to buy!

Oh no freakin’ way

Cale and I were wandering around our favorite used bookstore. I was thumbing through the records when Cale said “There’s no way they have any Beatles records, stop looking.” The salesman overheard and pulled out a handful of vinyls from the cart he was pushing around. “Never say never,” he said with a big grin. That’s right, we went home with the White Album, Sgt. Pepper, and Revolver (that contains my all-time favorite song ever Good Day Sunshine) totaling under $35. They are used, but they all still had their inserts and everything.

So I guess I must say.. Never say never. Because I used to always whine about how I never find good deals, and I made out pretty nicely last week.

Etsy Etsy Bo-betsy

Monday, February 23rd, 2009

Ashley.Star over at Our Little Apartment created a challenge for February: to Spread the Love and purchase handmade from Etsy.

I love etsy. Love love love love love. I’m not very crafty, so I love that I can support people who are. It’s a win win win. They get to make things that they enjoy. I get to buy it and enjoy it. And it breaks me from my sick addiction to Target.

Some things I’ve purchased and adore:

a vegan Guitar Strap from islandprovisions1

A new collar for Brodie thanks to ThePoshPup

And don’t forget Mae’s new collar! Also from ThePoshPup

Purchased a while back, but I still love it. A checkbook cover. Since I rarely use my checkbook, but feel paranoid if I don’t have it, I wanted something that could allow me to carry my checkbook without causing me to have big fat wallet syndrome. From HipHandbags

Adorable and reasonably priced earrings from celisa

And one of my favorite little things, my coffee sleeve from joyfulstar

Oh and don’t worry, there are even things for the husband, like a nerdy philosopher t-shirt.

Lastly, it wouldn’t be right if there weren’t items sitting in my favorites waiting for me to have a bad day when I can order an adorable necklace to cheer me up.

Seriously I think I need an intervention.

Antiques in Tahoe City

Thursday, July 31st, 2008

Literally thirty minutes before Cale and I packed up the dogs and headed out of Tahoe City, the women in my family dragged the men to visit this little house on the main road in Tahoe City. It was Morning Glory Cottage Furnishings and was filled with so many lovely antiques and trinkets. Cutest little decorations for nurseries, garden decor, and lovely smelling soaps. I was able to limit myself to two items. But it was a struggle.

I figured this little glass pitcher would be perfect for fresh squeezed orange juice. Or more realistically, juice that I buy and pour in it. Or flowers. Yes Flowers.

I saw this just as I was going to check out. How could I resist?? Though my recent French lessons had me utterly confused. We three? That doesn’t make sense. A little googling at home taught me that twa is Scottish for two. Yes Scottish. As in Scottish terrier. It all started to make sense.

I had no clue where I was going to put that linen. It is so crisp and nice. I couldn’t see myself wiping my hands on it. (warning OCD incident ahead) So one night as I was just about to fall asleep I had an epiphany. I jumped out of bed, flipped on the kitchen light, and started shuffling around all the magnets on the fridge. The new home for the linen is on the side of our refrigerator. It looks very nice and covers up the blah beige of our old fridge. I resisted the urge to get out the level. Flicked off the light. And went back to bed.

Pushups update: Ouuuuuch. My arms. We did day two though. Total pushups tonight: 54. Though the last few were most definitely in poor form. Because. It. Hurt.
