Take me out to the ballgame

Thursday, October 29th, 2009

A couple weekends back, Cale and I got to soak in our last bit of sunshine. Have you been outside? The time is going to change this weekend, which means the few chances that I have to get some vitamin D will be demolished. But two weeks ago, the sun was out, and we even got a little tan. We had family that was involved with organizing a vintage baseball game here in San Jose over the weekend. So we headed to the ballpark with our sunflower seeds in tow.

This is a former major league player. Who? No idea.. but look at the fancy umpire, complete with cigar!

They play with 1800’s equipment too: bats, gloves, etc. Check out the photos at the SJ Mercury News. Much better than mine and gives you an up close look at this vintage baseball.

We had a great time enjoying the game, the great weather, and a beer on a Saturday afternoon. Well and playing with babies…

Cale and Chase. Calm down my uterus.

Let’s not forget the other momentous occasion from that weekend: Chase spitting up all over me. Yeah. Nice.

In other random news:

  • We got Soft Claws to put on our cat. We just got the clear (Stupid Petco AND Petsmart did not have any of the colors). But I was shocked at how easy it was to put on him. It was one of those moments where you just want to kick yourself for not doing it sooner.
  • I actually have a Halloween costume for this year. Pros to going as a 60’s secretary: getting to buy fabulous shoes, having a dress I can rewear, and ratting my hair like nobody’s business. I’m excited!
  • Laughing like a 12 year old when I overhear “Don’t worry you won’t have to bob someone else’s apple” while at work. You bet I won’t be bobbing anyone else’s apple.
  • I’m going to be gone all next week in Scottsdale, Arizona next week for training. I’m hoping there will be some nice warm weather waiting for me.
  • I have been able to keep my google reader at a manageable level lately. If only I could also keep up blogging on a regular basis, but we’ll just take the little successes as they come.

What little successes did you have this week?

Halloween

Saturday, November 1st, 2008

First and foremost, I’m home!  After a long day of traveling yesterday, I got picked up at the San Jose airport by not only my husband, but my two puppies too!  I got to brag on the way home about seeing Drew Remenda (SJ Sharks hockey fans will know this guy) at the baggage claim carousel.  Maisie bombarded my face with wet puppy kisses.  Really there was no stopping the onslaught of her tongue.

But I came home, read about people passing out Halloween candy, and came to realize that my dogs were a little sad about not getting to dress up for Halloween. Other blogger dogs got to dress up. And mine were just jealous.

Two neglected pups with no Halloween spirit

So I gave them their costumes. And they assumed the roles. Maisie is a ghost and Brodie is a black cat. Perfect right?

Neo felt left out so I just told him he was a candy corn.

And then I ate him. The end.

All is Well

As a follow-up to yesterday’s post, last night went much better than the previous night. I developed a system for my purse that should be cat-proof, so long as I remember to use it. The puppies are glad to be back at home. So that’s all. Lame post, so I’ll throw in some pictures:

The new purse (that I swear is purple. the lighting in our house was not having any of that though), new scarf from shopping this weekend, and the new system. That is a wreath hanging hook. Perfect size for a purse.

Brodie. Cute. The end.

And Maisie. She’s pretty cute too.

Okay and Neo is cute too. How could I stay mad at that ball o’fluff?

Coming up soon: Pictures from the beach this weekend, a video blog especial, and maybe someday I’ll write that post about our honeymoon in France that I conveniently forgot about.

Things I Appreciate

Things I Appreciate:

  • Rain. Oh my goodness it rained on Friday night before we left for the coast, and oh my goodness (again, yes I was very excited) I was the happiest lady alive. Having the window open and hearing the rain drops as I went to sleep was just the greatest way to spend the evening.
  • Treadmills with built in video screens. Because when I’m watching an episode of The Office the time goes by so much quicker.
  • Good hair days. Those are few and far between over here. Maybe if I would loosen my purse strings and just pay the $70 that is costs for a haircut in the Bay Area, I would have cuter hair. But did you hear that? $70! And that’s not even with color. Note to self: schedule a hair appointment in Bakersfield for the next weekend we are heading there.
  • Splurging on new perfume. Smelling this good makes up for the ugly mess of hair on top of my head. Seriously this is heavenly.
  • Weekends with my family. Even bigger plus when it is in such a beautiful location as San Luis Obispo and Morro Bay. Oh this weekend was just splendid.
  • Going to the gym with my hubby. I love spending the time together. It makes it completely worth going to the gym.

Things I don’t appreciate:

  • Cat Pee in my purse.

First this: Cat PEED IN MY PURSE. lkjdflkajsdflawenrlnawer*A*SDF*A*SFD*ASD* Goodbye cute purse and wallet. hello trip to target during lunch. **#$(*% 09:02 AM September 23, 2008 from TwitterFox

And Now: oh my god. cat peed in MY NEW PURSE. hate to get rid of him, but seriously? this is getting expensive. not sure what to do. about 12 hours ago from web

After taking a few breaths and scouring the interwebs I have decided we are going to switch his litter and take him to the doctor for some kitty prozac. Then I am also going to get my booty to Target to get ANOTHER new purse and am going to be diligent about keeping it up off the ground.

  • Getting forwarded emails of any kind. (unless they are mean-spirited forwards making fun of what someone sent you. Those are always appreciated and encouraged). Especially if they are forwarded emails that have already been proven false on Snopes. Send me one of those, and I immediately lose any faith in your intelligence and curse your name for the rest of your day for wasting my time.

So how is your day going?
