Antiques in Tahoe City

Literally thirty minutes before Cale and I packed up the dogs and headed out of Tahoe City, the women in my family dragged the men to visit this little house on the main road in Tahoe City. It was Morning Glory Cottage Furnishings and was filled with so many lovely antiques and trinkets. Cutest little decorations for nurseries, garden decor, and lovely smelling soaps. I was able to limit myself to two items. But it was a struggle.

I figured this little glass pitcher would be perfect for fresh squeezed orange juice. Or more realistically, juice that I buy and pour in it. Or flowers. Yes Flowers.

I saw this just as I was going to check out. How could I resist?? Though my recent French lessons had me utterly confused. We three? That doesn’t make sense. A little googling at home taught me that twa is Scottish for two. Yes Scottish. As in Scottish terrier. It all started to make sense.

I had no clue where I was going to put that linen. It is so crisp and nice. I couldn’t see myself wiping my hands on it. (warning OCD incident ahead) So one night as I was just about to fall asleep I had an epiphany. I jumped out of bed, flipped on the kitchen light, and started shuffling around all the magnets on the fridge. The new home for the linen is on the side of our refrigerator. It looks very nice and covers up the blah beige of our old fridge. I resisted the urge to get out the level. Flicked off the light. And went back to bed.

Pushups update: Ouuuuuch. My arms. We did day two though. Total pushups tonight: 54. Though the last few were most definitely in poor form. Because. It. Hurt.

Back from Tahoe

We are home from our wonderful weekend in beautiful Tahoe. Three days and over four hundred pictures (from just my camera! That doesn’t count my sister’s or my mom’s) later. It was a busy weekend with two sick dogs, one bear, one coyote, and one pair of hair clippers. The recap will come soon.

In the meantime, did you check out my guest posts over the weekend? How did I become so lucky to have such a wonderful cousin and friend in my life? Really. Because wow.

There is some exciting stuff coming tomorrow to Those Corwins, so keep your eyes peeled for a new post to come.

Tahoe

Those Corwins are going on vacay (or holiday or whatever you would like to call it. You can imagine me pretending to have a British accent saying holiday because it sounds fancier).

We are heading to Lake Tahoe with my mom, dad, brother, sister, and grandmother for a long weekend of sun, boating, sun, food, and sun. Sun because I am bound and determined to get a tan this summer. No, not a sunburn. A tan.

We will be gone tonight through Sunday, and I have lined up some entertainment for y’all, so don’t fret. And I will most likely maintain my twitteriness over the weekend as well. Though they may just be boasts of how beautiful it is and how tan I’m getting.

Us last year houseboating with Cale’s dad and family. Should the Captain Vacation hat come out of storage for this weekend? I think so….

And I want to get this tan.. Skin do you hear me? Brown. Not white. Not red. Not purple. TAN!

Have any of you ever been to Lake Tahoe? Any must sees or must dos I should know before we go?

Carmel Getaway

A mere two weeks after Cale and I took off for a weekend to celebrate our one year anniversary, I am finally posting the pictures we took. Of course we got a half hour outside of San Jose before I realized I had completely forgotten my little digital camera, and the only thing in our backseat was my mom’s film Canon Rebel. Shooting in film is so different from digital; you can’t tell if the pictures are turning out right, which would have been helpful considering I barely understood all the settings the rebel had compared to my point and shoot. But I got the film developed onto a cd and was pleasantly surprised that they were not all blurry messes. So enjoy the sights from Carmel by the Sea.

Settling into our little B&B for the weekend.

There were many dogs playing on the beach; it made us wish we would have brought ours!

The following are as seen on the 17 Mile Drive

Where Cale plans on returning to actually play.. Someday right?

This weekend trip was just as we needed. We’ve decided that we are going to take at least a weekend trip for every anniversary. Everyone needs a weekend away from reality and time to reconnect. Hopefully next year we remember the sunscreen.
